Brett Hughes
Brett joined Dewart Gleason in 2017 after serving as a law clerk to the judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto. His practice focuses on labour law, civil litigation, and employment law.
In law school, Brett worked as a caseworker at the Advocates for Injured Workers legal clinic, where he represented workers in their appeals of Workplace Safety and Insurance Board decisions. He served as editor-in-chief of his law school’s student newspaper, focusing on issues such as financial accessibility, diversity, and mental health in legal education. He was also a senior editor for the Journal of Law and Equality and was elected co-valedictorian of his graduating class. Brett grew up in New Zealand and Australia.
